In 2015, Zhen Zeng and Reina Takahashi, among thousands of other artists, created within the hashtag #The100DayProject. They met the encouragement and support of other artists, reached new countries, and interacted with new audiences. The wildfire was alive and well.

Where do great illustration ideas come from? I often find myself searching for inspiration than actually drawing. Then this idea hit me: what if I simply let fate decide? To do that, I made a jar full of tiny cards with a unique thing written on each. Then I would pick 2 cards at random, and they would be the inspiration for what to draw. The combos are always surprising, a little whimsical, and sometimes a bit weird. I look forward to each new combo as much as the viewers do.

REINA TAKAHASHI • I THOUGHT OF YOU

Every day, I encounter objects, sounds, and phrases that remind me of someone to whom I'm connected. These triggers, the things that lead us to say, "I was just thinking about you," are what I'm cutting out each morning. To further the idea of connection, each piece is made to fit on a postcard. As mundane as a shoe or as simple as a book of matches, I'm enthralled by the fact that so many things each day serve as connections between myself and someone else and a time I shared with them.
